A. Madonna
and Child; St. John the Baptist; St. John the Evangelist; pair of Adoring Angels
Sculpture in
“caciolfa” stone with traces of paint and gilding. From the Church of San
Giovanni, where they probably adorned the Madonna della Palla altar. They were
carved in 1469 by Giovanni Dalmata (Ivan Duknovich of Trogir). The Madonna and
Child of this group—one of most interesting in the Museum—is perhaps one of the
most beautiful works created by this artist.

B. Pietà
Hard stucco or
“cast stone,” it comes from the Church of San Giovanni. This type of
“Vesperbield” sculpture, very common in Umbria, Marche and Abruzzo after the
mid-15th cent., is normally attributed to German masters.
